Connecting Scales

Your scale company should connect your scale indicators with your network using a Serial-to-Ethernet converter

**Instructions for Establishing Scale Connections in WeighPay Software Applications**

1. Serial-to-Ethernet Conversion Setup:

- Connect the serial scale indicator to a Serial-to-Ethernet converter device.

- Ensure the converter is powered and configured to perform the conversion from serial communication to Ethernet.

- Verify that the converter has assigned an IP address and a Port number to the scale indicator.

2. WeighPay Configuration:

- Access the WeighPay software application.

- Navigate to the settings or configuration section related to scale connections.

3. Scale Protocol Configuration:

- Set the communication protocol for the scale to:

- Baud rate: 9600

- Data bits: 8

- Parity: None

- Stop bits: 1

4. Continuous Mode Setup:

- Ensure the scale indicator is configured to operate in continuous mode.

- Specify that the scale indicator should transmit data with a Carriage Return (CR) and Line Feed (LF) characters at the end of each reading.

5. Integration with Terminal Reader:

- Open a terminal reader application such as Putty.org on the designated device.

- Configure the terminal reader to listen to the specified IP address and Port number assigned to the scale indicator by the Serial-to-Ethernet converter.

- Verify that the terminal reader is set to receive continuous data stream.

6. Testing Connection:

- Apply a weight (e.g., 100 lb) to the scale to generate a reading.

- Monitor the terminal reader for real-time updates of weight readings.

- Ensure that the WeighPay software application successfully receives and processes the weight data from the scale indicator.

By following these instructions, you can establish a stable and reliable connection between the serial scales and the WeighPay software application, enabling seamless real-time monitoring of weight measurements.
